The epitaphs are as follows:
This is a framed memorial to three Umphlett sisters, daughters of Charney and Martha
Umphlett.
They were three of nine children and all three were my Great Aunts.
Nannie Caroline Umphlett "Nancy", born 1 Sept 1879, died 25 Mar 1900, buried
in Matthews Cem. Perquimans County, N.C.
Ada Umphlett, born 28 Jan 1883, died 26 August 1883, unknown where buried
Emma Umphlett, born 1 March 1885, died 14 April 1885, unknown where buried.
The above three were sisters to my Grandfather William Franklin Umphlett.
This framed memorial was in the home of their sister, Celia Umphlett Boyce,
of Edenton, NC
The verse at the bottom reads:
We loved them, yes, we loved them,
But Jesus loved them more:
And He has sweetly called them,
To yonder shining shore.
The golden gates were opened,
A gentle voice said "come!"
And with farewells unspoken,
They calmly entered home.
